  • We Love Energy Drinks..Universities Don’t

Did you know that energy drinks are the fastest growing market in United States functional drink industry? Could you imagine having energy drinks banned? That’s exactly what the University of New Hampshire was on the brink of doing recently. The University was trying to ban the sale of energy drinks on campus. The primary reason being that they felt energy drinks were in direct correlation with consumption of alcoholic beverages… Vodka and Redbull… etc.

Consuming alcohol along with energy drinks goes against the University’s goal of healthier living. This issue caused a great uproar with the students.  A survey conducted states that 78% of people who consume alcohol admit to mixing energy drinks with liquor.  Despite the stats, most students claim that alcohol consumption has very little reason as to why the favor energy drinks so much.  Students claim that the boost of energy created by energy drinks gives them an aid to focus on tasks they need to accomplish. Much like any decision made by a universities, there are pros and cons.  Banning energy drinks or letting students choose whether or not to consume them is no different.
