The days of getting lousy perfume samples along with your latest edition of your favorite magazine seem to be over. Today’s copy of Entertainment Weekly features a digital Ad for CW providing live tweet updates on an LCD screen provided by a cell phone integrated into the magazine itself. Imagine buying a magazine to read on your daily commute to school or work and getting a cellphone free! A few curious minds at Mashable have taken apart the ad to discover the ads are indeed generated by a fully functional smartphone. The CW is in overdrive promoting the new fall lineup including the new show DC Comic inspired The Arrow. With the digital ad campaign, the smartphone automatically shows preview clips of upcoming shows on the CW as well as live interaction with the channel’s twitter feed. Only 1,000 of these high tech magazines are hitting newsstands so I urge you to walk RUN to your closest stand to snag a copy before they are sold out.
