While the car pictured (see slideshow of pictures at end of post) above may look like it could soar into the clouds, it in fact can not. The car shown is a computerized model of the new Ford Evo. The new Evo is a car in which Ford is using cloud computing to optimize a plug-in hybrid’s powertrain efficiency as well as many other benefits all by connecting the car to the internet.
With the implementation of cloud – computing hybrid cars can learn when to switch from being gasoline-powered to all-electric upon entering a lower required emissions zone. How cool is that! Cloud technology is already being used in some cars for things such as navigation, traffic control, etc. All of those empower the driver. The future plans that Ford has is to empower the car. The success of innovations such as this can really push the progess of seeing more crazy technology become developed. So one day, maybe we’ll be able to take cars into the sky!
