The battle of the century? It very well may be. Take a walk through campus and you will see thousands of people on their cell phones because that is the world that we live in these days. If you take a closer look at the actual cell phones being used, there is a good chance that the person is either holding some version of the iPhone or a phone operating on the Android system. Unless in the rare occassion you happen to see someone, like my housemate, using a Verizon flip phone from 2001.
HTC is one of the leading manufacturers of cell phones operating with the Android system, thus making it one of Apple’s leading competitors. While Apple’s iPhone has the “cool” factor on its side, Android phones are not to far behind. In fact, HTC’s president, Martin Fichter, stated that the iPhone is loosing its cool because “dads” use them.
Take a look at the image below:

When it comes to actual market share, Android now owns 38% compared to iOS’s 33%. Blackberry has seen its market share fall to 22%.
Which do you prefer and why?

Much appreciated for the information and share!
Interesting article. To answer your question, “Will Microsoft get the same attention, sales lift and accolades when it launches Windows 8 next month?” The answer is probably not, in part because everyone still loves to hate Microsoft.
