The recently adopted TSG Constitution creates new opportunities for student leadership and representation on campus through a student Senate.

The Senate will be composed of proportional representation from each college/school on the Main campus plus two (2) “At Large” graduate student representatives.

Senators will:

  • Help establish College Councils in each of the college/schools at Temple University.
  • Attend two Senate meetings & two committee meetings per month.
  • Serve as the voice for the students in their college/school to the Temple Student Government.
  • Meeting with school administrators to bring forth the concerns of students that they represent.

The creation of the TSG Senate is a monumental event in the history of both TSG and Temple  University.  Indeed, the creation of the first representative body in ancient Rome brought forth great strides for democracy and social justice – as did other institutions from the Iroquois Confederacy to the American Congress.  With a senate, TSG can bring greater voice to student concerns and address student demands in a more efficient manner.

In addition to allowing your voice and the voice of your fellow students to be heard, the Senate will provide great resume building and professional networking opportunities while building leadership, public speaking and communication skills.

If you are would like more information or would like to apply to become a Senator, please e-mail a cover letter and your resume to: studentorgs@temple.edu by Monday, May 5th at 5:00 PM.
