Let the People Speak: Journey into the New World of Web 2.0

EVENT DETAILS: October 10th, 2007 | 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM | Downtown Club

The Web has always been about people, but in a Web 2.0 world this is taking on a whole new meaning. Giving your users more control and influence over your site unveils a whole new set of opportunities - and a whole new set of challenges. Unfortunately, Web 2.0 doesn’t come in a box with installation instructions and a user guide. Web 2.0 is a set of new philosophies and approaches to Web site strategy and design, which consists of increased user participation, openness, and rich interfaces. But with this philosophy in its infancy, many are struggling with not only defining it, but uncovering what it can do for the online channel and how to make it happen.

Join Sr. User Interface Consultants, Anne Lac and Raphael Chun of Molecular and the Philly AMA for an overview of this ground-breaking e-philosophy, with a detailed breakdown of each facet: user participation, openness and rich interfaces. They’ll delve into each area, sharing their in-depth knowledge and real-Web experiences, including emerging best practices, usability challenges, implications to your ebusiness, and many examples of what Web 2.0 makes possible.

Attendees will gain a thorough understanding of when and how it is best to incorporate the elements of Web 2.0 into your online experience, as well as suggestions and tips on what not to do. Key takeways will include:

• The different forms of user participation, ranging from content augmentation (user ratings, folksonomies, etc.) to site co-creation (user editorial control, wikis, social networking) and how they can be used and misused.
• How the new-found openness of RSS syndication, open API’s, mashups, P2P, and the altered state of SOA are affecting the Web and ebusiness.
• Where and when rich interfaces and Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) fit into the picture.
• How to get started and maximize the results of Web 2.0.
• What are fads and what are here to stay.
• Case studies and real-Web examples of Web 2.0.

Join the Philly AMA for lunch on Wednesday, October 10th, 2007 at the Downtown Club and find out how you can put your website to work for you.

Going Dynamic

Posted on Sep 24

The TU-AMA site is going to try something new - changing its background image according to events, happenings or any other notable occasion taking place on a given day (holidays and the like). So what better way to kick this off than with Halo 3 - officially the largest launch event in the history of the entertainment industry. If you can make it to NYC tonight, the marketing gurus at Microsoft promise “an event unlike any other” at the stroke of midnight…

Next up: Halloween (I think).
